The Tufted Shoot: Links

I've toyed with the idea of putting up my own web site for several years now. My core idea for such a site was always focused around discussion of books I've read. Since discussion of books was the impetus that finally got me to knock it all into shape and get it posted, it seems appropriate to list a few of the book logs that I look at regularly.

Book Logs

Outside of a Dog

Kate Nepveu's book log. Kate's taste in reading generally overlaps a fair amount with my own. She also reads at a pace that's frankly exhausting--I think I matched it in years past, but then I slowed down somewhere along the line. I've gleaned any number of suggestions for good reading material from Kate over the past several years.

The Library of Babel

Chad Orzel's book log. Chad's taste doesn't overlap quite as much with mine, but he not only reads a bunch of interesting stuff, much of which I suspect I might never get around to reading myself, but he generally has something interesting to say about it.

Pam's Book Log

Pam Korda's book log. Another reader with a generally good eye for quality reading material (of course I'm the one who gets to say what constitutes quality. Make your own page if you disagree); she also has useful comments on what she's read.

Weasel Words

Mike Kozlowski's book log. He's usually a pretty good gauge of what I will or will not like in a book.

lundblog

Nathan Lundblad's combination book and web log. Nathan comments on books, but also, it appears, on whatever else is happening in life at the moment. Since he writes well, and--near as I can tell--he's one of those people who're way bright ( but then, that pretty much applies to everyone I've listed on this page), this is more interesting than it might sound at first cut.

Other Logs

Electrolite and Making Light

Web logs of Patrick and Teresa Nielsen Hayden, Tor power couple and literati extraordinaire. They come up with some good stuff to post--Patrick seems to be more politically oriented, while Teresa comes up with an astonishingly eclectic mix for her viewers' delectation.

Uncertain Principles

Site of Chad Orzel's foray into the wonderful world of web (as opposed to book) logs. He gets seduced into an occasional political post, but from my standpoint, it's the posts on physics research and being a physics professor that are really fascinating.

Unmistakable Marks

Mike Kozlowski finally decides he must have an outlet for all of his pent-up rage and righteous fury. I'm kidding, mostly.
